Visual Voices

In summer 2007 Matt Legg from the Voluntary Organisation’s Network North East (VONNE) in collaboration with the Black Ethnic Minority Community Organisations (BECON) Network and other voluntary organisations, charities and community groups put together “the Visual Voices” project.

The idea was simple. It was to encourage the keen photographers in the community to take their cameras out and express them selves through their art.

Digital photography workshops were delivered across the region to help the participants to use their cameras’, skills and talents more effectively.

All the images entered have been made available royalty free to VCS organisation. This created a unique pool of royalty free images by local artists for only the VCS to use for the publications.

Some of the images entered into this competition were incorporated in a 2008 calendar which VCS organisations are welcome to download, print and use. VCS -only- may sell this calendar to generate funds if you so wish as all images featured are completely royalty free for VCS only.
